Katie & Marcus
An entire weekend-long destination wedding. Two days of celebration for Katie and Marcus who arrived from the United Kingdom for the Tuscany wedding of their dreams. This is the account of their story.
Wedding weekend in Tuscany starts with Pizza Party
Katie and Marcus flew to Tuscany along with their guests, family and lifelong friends, to live the dream of an Italian wedding. Framed by the Tuscan countryside, the relais Sassa al Sole immediately caught the attention of this couple who decided to hold their most special day here…and not just one, but an entire weekend!
We welcomed the bride and her parents first. During the transfer we offered them, we got to know Katie better and shared her excitement about the upcoming wedding. Later, the groom and all the guests arrived. As a welcome, we hosted a pizza party for them in the Sala dell’Opéra.
Welcoming guests: party with a view
On a late September day, sunny as that was, there was a wonderful view of the surrounding countryside from the hall’s windows. For the pizza party, the decorations followed a country style with the typical colors of rural Tuscany. On the tables were placed herbs, tomatoes and peppers to frame a mise en place with warm tones.
The evening ended with homemade gelato served from a quaint vintage stall on wheels.
The wedding ceremony in the garden of the relais
The real celebration began the next morning: the day of the ceremony. We had set up our Angel Fountain for the occasion, decorating the entire space with large arrangements of white roses. Katie made her entrance accompanied by live music from a violin and a piano, also white. The excitement among the guests was palpable, sitting in a semicircle behind the bride and groom, they laughed, applauded and cried with joy.
For the aperitif, there was a change of location. From the garden, guided by our event planner Cristina, all guests moved to the poolside. Here, under the gazebo framed by roses, spritz and prosecco was served.
Poolside celebrations late into the evening
Katie and Marcus’ wedding dinner was held along an imperial table set with roses and candles at the opposite edge of the pool. Guests and the newlyweds enjoyed typical traditional Tuscan dishes. All under a carpet of lights that created a unique atmosphere in the evening. The magic of the fairy lights also framed the cake cutting, the moment of souvenir photos, until the conclusion of the evening.
With the help of our planning service, Katie and Marcus were able to make their dream come true….not just their wedding dream. In fact, they spent two days in Tuscany together with their loved ones having fun and enjoying the best this land has to offer.
